El Allende

Over 50 years in the restaurant business, El Allende serves mestizo cuisine — a Mexican take on traditional dishes — just steps from Ciudad Universitaria. The menu includes grilled meats, filet in three-chile sauce, and Argentine-style cuts like asado de tira, plus a weekend buffet with a wide variety of dishes. The goat cheese ravioli and spinach with cream (served with cheese crisps) make regular appearances.

The terrace is the draw, especially on sunny Sunday mornings when the restaurant is quiet and service is attentive. They've reintroduced a more affordable executive menu after feedback from the UNAM community. Reservations recommended for the rooftop.
