Teatro Santa Catarina

Built in 1970 by set designer Alejandro Luna and originally named Teatro Coyoacán, Escenario de Arte, this intimate theater sits right on the Jardín de Santa Catarina and now operates under UNAM's network of performing arts spaces. The 60 to 80-seat venue keeps sightlines clear from every angle and offers good lighting and sound for such a small footprint.

Programming leans on university theater productions and affordable shows — sometimes free, sometimes budget-friendly, especially on Thursdays when tickets drop to around thirty pesos for the general public with additional discounts for UNAM community members. Arrive at least an hour early for popular weekend shows, as seating is limited and sells out fast. No online ticketing — buy at the box office ahead of the show date to secure your spot.
