Built in 1977-78 as part of UNAM's Centro Cultural Universitario and inaugurated in February 1979, this 440-seat theater was designed by architects Orso Núñez and Arcadio Artis Espriú. It's one of the main theatrical venues on the University City campus, second only to the enormous Sala Nezahualcóyotl within the cultural complex.

Professional theater companies rotate through regularly, backed by strong lighting and sound production. The venue is strict on punctuality — doors close 10 minutes after showtime, so plan to arrive at least 30 minutes early. Tickets are available online, and discounts apply for UNAM students, faculty, and alumni. Thursday shows drop to affordable pricing, making it easy to catch quality theater on a budget.

The surrounding Centro Cultural Universitario includes a restaurant, café, the MUAC, and a bookstore, all accessible from the same plaza. Underground parking is available at low rates, closing at 9pm.
